The artistic talents of the children of Modern Delhi Public School got wings during their online sessions in Fine and Performing Arts. The jubilant learners sang, danced, sketched and coloured with a smile on their face and joy in their mind. The academics also took an interesting turn as the diligent children solved riddles and answered the questions during interaction with their teachers.
On an interesting learning journey, the children of Modern Delhi Public School took their knowledge one step further as the mentors introduced them to square and circle shapes. Cementing their concepts with the help of rhymes, the tiny tots learned that a square has four equal sides and four corners whereas a circle has no sides and no corners. Several pictures of objects (such as a coin, plate, biscuit, chess board) related to both the shapes were shown to the kids to aid their learning. The effusive learners enjoyed sorting the things around them at home and putting them in correct shape made on the floor using tape/ poster colour. The enthusiastic students prepared sandwiches while identifying square and circle shaped eatables like bread, cucumber, carrot, cheese, chocolate and so on.
Acing the 'आ की मात्रा', the young learners journeyed on the terrains of knowledge to acquire proficiency in 'इ की मात्रा'. From exploring words like sleeping on a pillow (takiye par sona), a glass of water (gilas mein paani) to reading a book (kitaab padhna), the children were guided to identify the matra in the commonly used words. The e-learning platform offered the inquisitive spirits to explore their creative skills and give wings to their dreams. Enthralled and amused, they made a colourful paper plane under the guidance of their mentors.

From planting seeds in their garden to being cognizant of the need to switch off taps, fans and lights when not in use, the children learned aplenty about ways to champion the cause of the planet from their mentors and parents. Feeling one with the natural surroundings, the children also relaxed their minds by indulging in a session of Nature Yoga where they contorted their bodies to replicate the mountain pose, butterfly pose and tree pose. With a view to conserve the natural resources, the conscientious spirits delved into making posters of Happy Earth and unanimously pledged to fight back pollution that threatens to engulf the living space. Donning the chef hats, the young wonder cooks also engaged in a cooking without fire activity to prepare a lip-smacking platter of Sevpuris for their family.

Adding zing to their indoor stay, the enthusiastic students immersed themselves in a wide array of fascinating Hand and Finger Exercises. Under the careful guidance of the mentors, the parents were sensitized to develop a fun-filled learning environment at home by utilizing materials readily available around them. Not only did the young learners activate their prior knowledge of colours and shapes but they also dexterously honed their motor skills as they revelled in activities such as Claw Grabbing Exercise, Fun with Toothpicks and Stretching Band.
Breaking the frontiers of classroom learning,the virtual classes conducted by Modern Delhi Public School have enabled the young scholars to connect with their mentors from the comfort of their homes. With the view of providing a wholesome learning experience to the inquisitive spirits, the online support has helped the young minds to satiate their desire for knowledge and keep up with their curriculum.Despite the trying times, the ongoing classes for grades 7 to 9 have received maximum participation and overwhelming support of the stakeholders. The e-learning sessions have now commenced for Grades 2-6 as well. Despite the nationwide lockdown, imparting quality education never takes a backseat in Modern Delhi Public School. These online classes have facilitated the children to continue with their learning unhindered. The morning sets the day and the assembly paves the way for our students to rejuvenate their spirits. ‘Gagan Yatra’, the chosen theme for the class I assembly created an ambience for learning about the space, its heavenly bodies and the solar system. The students presented the pledge, thoughts and speech confidently on stage. The audience was enthralled by the impeccable performance of the students in the action song. The skit highlighted the presence of heavenly bodies which was enacted flawlessly. The solo dance was beautifully presented. The assembly was concluded with the praises and singing of National Anthem.
The tiny tots of class Prep-A staged an assembly on 28.02.20 on the theme of importance of time. The assembly depicted how time is very important in our lives and plays a significant role in shaping our lives. The assembly sets its right chord with its morning choir. The students showed confidence through the presentation of school pledge, thoughts and speeches. The enactment brought out the message clearly that told we should respect time and also understand the value of time. The assembly was well organised which helped to develop the latent capacities of the children and enhanced their understanding of their own self, skills and abilities. The assembly culminated with the soulful singing of the National Anthem.
Music is an important part of our life as it is a way of expressing our feelings as well as emotions. Keeping this thought in mind, the young and talented students of class I B of Modern Delhi Public School, Sec-89, hosted the Assembly on 27.02.20 that showcased the power of music in our life. The children did a fantastic job with their assembly items starting from Morning choir, followed by thoughts and speech. They looked great and sounded great. Most noticeable was their confidence with which children spoke on stage. The talk show on different Musical items and Action song, ’Sa Re Ga Ma Pa ‘ set the stage on fire. Qawwali sang by the young masters was a complete melodic framework. Students exhibited good oratory skills and were confident on stage. The young ones were praised and cheered loudly. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem.
As an effort to create awareness and give hands on experience on shopping to the young learners of class I, Modern Delhi Public School arranged a visit to a departmental store. For this purpose, Reliance Megamart was chosen and a visit was planned on 27.02.20 in coordination with the management of Reliance Megamart. The students were briefed in advance about the visit. They were also explained about availability of different products in different sections. The children explored the different sections and purchased the product according to their budget and need. The purpose of this visit was to make the kids aware about purchasing, billing and queue system. The students achieved satisfaction and enjoyed the visit fully.
In a bid to enhance the true sportsman spirit in every child, MDPS, Sec-89 celebrated ‘Sports Splendour Week’ with unparalleled gaiety. In a week brimming with fun-filled activities, the students displayed their flair for teamwork and cooperation in Ethnic Games, Jumping Jacks, Football Mania and Fun Races.
